Introduction of the Department

Mechanical and Agricultural  Engineering Department Comprises of Six Programmes (Agricultural, Civil, Food Science and Technology, Industrial Production, Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering). Agricultural, Food Science and Technology, Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering were among the first seven programmes initially established by the institution in 2017.

Agricultural Engineering involves conducting cutting-edge research that will advance the frontier of knowledge; contribute a substantial proportion of innovations and provide a friendly and substantial environment towards the development of food and agro-allied industries in Nigeria and the world as a whole. Food Science and Technology was established to produce self-sustaining graduates who will be conversant in a broad sense with theories, principles and their practical applications of food. The planning of the programme was to cater for Nigeria as well as global needs in the field of production, storage, preservation, processing and quality control of raw materials. Mechanical Engineering which is another programme in the Mechanical and Agricultural Engineering Department was founded to fundamentally connect with all the application of Science and Engineering Principles. Mechatronics Engineering focuses on the efficient and effective integration of mechanical systems, electronics and intelligent control systems.

Industrial Production and Civil Engineering Programmes had been approved by the National Universit7 Commission which commenced in the 2020/2021 Academic Session. The Department started with seven (7) Ph.D. holders as full-time staff. Nine (9) Professional Visiting Staff and six (6) Technical Staff who are saddled with the responsibility of the practical work in the various Laboratory and workshops. The Department is currently headed by a Professional Registered Engineer, Dr I.O Olaoye.
