Programme Philosophy

The B.Sc. program in Cyber-security is concerned with the development of cyber resilient systems which include the protection of the physical as well as computer and network systems. It requires a proactive approach in development of software with security incorporated from the onset of software development. The program infuse unique cyber-security ability to protect digital assets, guard critical infrastructure, and business ecosystem among others.

Graduates of this course not only know the technology, but also have in-depth exposure to the application/domain area. Not only do they provide technological solutions to cyber security problems posed by others, but by having an understanding of the application/domain, they can formulate potential security threats, propose appropriate solutions, and then provide leadership in the design of a system to resist and survive these threats.

The primary aim of the Cyber-security degrees is to provide cyber scientists that is part of inter disciplinary solution to local and global cyber challenges by developing appropriate, effective, and affordable solutions with security engineered in from the concept phase, through design, and into implementation and deployment. The programme builds capacity and develop human capital in the field of cyber-security, to safeguard critical national infrastructure, as designated, and also to protect business transactions cum corporate assets.

UTME Admission

Students seeking admission to 100 Level of the Cyber-security programme is   must satisfy the general University entrance requirements and should normally have:

  • Minimum of five Ordinary Level  (SSCE or NECO) credit passes in English Language, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and any other subjects from Biology or/and Agriculture at NOT more than two (2) sittings.
  • Minimum UTME/Post-UTME score for admission into the Department which shall be determined by the University admission committeeiii) Without prejudice to (ii) above, the UTME subjects are: English Language, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics.

Direct Entry Admission

In addition to the requirements specified above in (ai and aii), candidates seeking admission to 200 Level must possess.

  • ND at Upper Credit Level or equivalent in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related discipline from recognised institutions.
  • Good passes at the General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) or its equivalent in Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics.

To be eligible for a degree of B.Sc. in Cyber-security of Technical University, Ibadan, a candidate must:

  • Pass all prescribed core courses as well as University and School required courses and the free electives.
  • Complete a minimum of 147 units if admitted through UME and a minimum of 112 units, if by Direct Entry.
  • 12 units of Special electives.
  • Obtain a CGPA of not less than 1.5.
  • Complete successfully all field projects, laboratory practicals and industrial attachments.
  • Direct Entry students are expected to register and pass the General Studies Courses required by the university.
  • In addition students are required to learn two trades, French language with immersion and one other Nigerian Language;
