Ibidapo-Obe’s contributions to growth of First Technical University indelible — VC
The Vice Chancellor of First Technical University, Ibadan, Oyo State, Prof. Ayobami Salami, has described as indelible the contributions of deceased scholar, Prof. Oye Ibidapo-Obe, to the development of the university.
Ibidapo-Obe, who was the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the institution, passed away on Sunday at the age of 71.
In a statement personally signed by the VC, he said Ibiapo-Obe’s iconic touch was vivid in every area of the university.
The statement, titled: “We have lost a gem: Professor Oyewusi Ibidapo-Obe,” reads: “With a very heavy heart but in submission to the will of the Almighty God, I announce the passing onto glory of Professor Oyewusi Ibidapo-Obe, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Governing Council of the First Technical University, Ibadan.
“The erudite, resourceful and highly impactful scholar, administrator and statesman breathed his last on Sunday, 3rd January, 2021.
“Professor Oye Ibidapo-Obe was a globally renowned and celebrated university administrator. His iconic touch to the rapid progress and development of our university is real and apparent. The University Governing Council, Senate, Management, Staff and Students, indeed, bear testimony to his indelible contributions to the acclaimed progress that Tech-U has recorded within the three and a half years of its existence. This explains the deep pain and sadness that enveloped the University when the news of his death broke out.
“Yet, we are consoled that he led such a dutiful, productive and impactful life. As we, therefore, commiserate with his family and His Excellency, Engineer Seyi Makinde, FNSE, Visitor to the University and the Chancellor, Chief Tunde Afolabi MFR, we wish Professor Oye Ibidapo-Obe a peaceful everlasting rest and we pray that God accords his soul eternal rest.
