Tech-U honours outgoing VC with symposium
Faculty of Natural and Applied Science of the First Technical University (Tech-U), Ibadan, Oyo State, yesterday honoured the outgoing Vice Chancellor (VC), Prof. Ayobami Salami, with its maiden international symposium with the theme: “Green Technology for Sustainable National Development”.
The faculty said the symposium was to praise Salami’s outstanding performance as the pioneer VC of the institution.
The Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Prof Charles Akanbi and his counterpart from Environmental Studies, Prof. Ojo, in their remarks hailed the efforts of the outgoing VC towards bringing the university to the limelight. They described Salami as a passionate leader, who had grown students in their fields.
The incoming VC, Prof Adesola Ajayi, said the outgoing VC had laid a solid foundation, which he would build on.
Speaking about the theme of the symposium, a professor of Bio-Technology at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Prof. Bamidele Solomon, noted that the role of green technology in agriculture could not be overemphasized, because it was one of the contributors to environmental degradation.
