
The premier technical university in Nigeria, Abiola Ajimobi Technical University held its 8th Matriculation ceremony today, 29th January 2025. A total of 210 students were matriculated into the faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences, Faculty of Engineering and Technology and Faculty of environmental science.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adesola Ajayi in his address pointed to the diversity in the number of admitted students this year, as the University records one of the highest ratio of Male to female students, with 121 male students to 89 female students. The Vice Chancellor welcomed the students into the University Community and admonished the students to adhere to the code of conducts of the Institution. He advised the matriculants to manage their newly found freedom with caution.
One of the highlights of the ceremony was the announcement of Farmer Kolawole Adeniji as the university’s first brand ambassador. Farmer Kolawole Adeniji, chairman and CEO of Niji Group whose achievements and contributions to advancing innovation and entrepreneurship in Nigeria, resonates with University’s mission to foster innovation, entrepreneurship and transformative leadership.

In his acceptance speech and address to the students, Farmer Kolawole Adeniyi admonished the Matriculants to look for a problem to solve first before chasing after money. He said, “when you solve a problem, money will chase after you.” Farmer Kolawole went ahead to pledge his readiness to work with the University to facilitate something beneficial for the student. He added that his goal for the university is for students to be able to start making money on their own after their first year, which is a really innovative approach to education.
The Honourable Commissioner for Education for Oyo state (ably represented) in his address commended the University for their initiative and admonished the students to strive for the best.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University appreciated the Chairman of the Association of all Local Government in Nigeria, Honourable Sikiru Sanda for their support, particularly for the full scholarship awarded to students of the University across all local governments, which has been the practice for over five years. The Vice-Chancellor announced that the Visitor to the University, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Governor Seyi Makinde has giving the nod for the scholarship programme to continue, and this year the number of students awarded scholarships by the local governments has been increased from 165 to 195 students.
Hon. Sikiru Sanda in his address commended the Oyo State Governor, His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde for carrying on with the legacy of his predecessor, the late Senator Abiola Ajimobi. He encouraged the students to be good ambassadors of their homes, their respective local governments, the institution itself and Oyo State.
